The Japanese Care about Shared Space

Everywhere one look there is CARE about shared SPACE!
The space we live and function in, is taken care of,
and made aesthetically appealing.
I think this is what I lack most in my current physical living space – the US.
It can be functional (often) for ex a drive thru,
but it is NOT often aesthetically appealing.
Way too often there are out door cafés next to parking lots,
and well it’s more of two separate domains in the US:
function in its domain and beauty in another separate domain!
In Japan they often share the same SPACE – function AND beauty!
However, I have noticed some improvements in that regard for example in Albuquerque, where the highways and roads are receiving statues and care.
